On 16 May 2012, the new Phelwana Clinic in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve was officially opened by Alois Adlkofer who kindly made his land available for the clinic.
On 6 Sept 2014, Acornhoek schools got together for an exciting day of competition in the netball and soccer tournaments sponsored by the Timbavati Foundation.
Early one Saturday morning 14 excited young learners from Makwetse Primary School were brought to the Environmental School to meet 4 students from the MERENSKY High School in Tzaneen.
Wildlands Conservation Trust in partnership with K2C biosphere region working together with The Timbavati Foundation, Global White Lions Protection Trust, Nourish and Klaserie Children’s Eco training were having a citizen day
We erected three netted gardens at Paulos Ngobeni School, Diabo Moripe and Seroba Daycare centres in the first quarter of 2014. All these institutions are in an extremely poor part of Acornhoek.
While the environmental school is in progress, as part of our outreach program two facilitators visit the surrounding primary & high schools and provide an on going conservation class to the various school grades.
The Enviromental School offers learners the opportunity to take part in environmental education safaris. The children are selected based on the subjects they are taking for matric, as well as their interest in conservation related activities.
On the 18th July 2014, the Timbavati Foundation together with other stakeholders organized a Mandela Day Marathon at the Mahlale High School in the Welverdiend Community.
At the Insurance Institute of Gauteng’s (IIG) Annual Charity Auction at The Barnyard Theatre in Cresta on the 8th of May 2014, The Fulcrum Group bid R166 000 for a three night stay at the Makanyi Lodge in the Timbavati.
