Hlokomela
Resource scarcity and high unemployment rates contribute to vulnerability to poverty and health issues in the wildlife communities nearby.
For years, the Timbavati Foundation has partnered with Hlokomela, a renowned nonprofit organization, in its award-winning HIV and AIDS educational and treatment program. Targeting workers, including foreign migrants, in agriculture, nature conservation, and tourism sectors across the Greater Kruger to Canyons area, their initiative focuses on peer education, awareness, prevention, and treatment, reaching an estimated 25,000 individuals annually across 71 sub-project sites.
Our ongoing collaboration with Hlokomela extends to providing medical services at the Phelwana clinic in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, ensuring the health and well-being of lodge and camp staff. Additionally, our support includes a yearly donation to Hlokomela, reinforcing their impactful work in aiding those in need.
